Merritt Keehn joined BHSSC as a Family Education Specialist for Lawrence County. Merritt has a bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State University in education, special education, and early childhood. She also has a master’s degree as a Reading Specialist. Merritt previously taught at Lead-Deadwood Elementary School for over 19 years. She loved teaching and being part of a wonderful team, but felt it was time to move on and try something different.
She is very excited to be part of the BHSSC team, as a parent educator home visitor. She is looking forward to working with families and children in the home setting.
In Merritt’s free time she loves to golf, read, walk, travel, her pets and spending time with her family, especially her grandson. Merritt is married to Toby and they have a small burger business in Deadwood called “Mustang Sally’s.” When she’s not doing anything else you might find her helping out as a server. She has two children Zoe and Ethan. She is dedicated to her family and has cherished watching her family grow.
